Privacy Policy
Effective October 1, 2026 · Last updated October 1, 2026
This policy explains what personal information Preparedism collects, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
About this policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information handled through the website at preparedism.com (the “Website”), our free email courses and newsletter, and our digital planning kits (together, the “Services”).
Preparedism is a division of GrokoryAI. GrokoryAI is the trading name of Gregory Hardiman (ABN 75 964 669 667), based in Victoria, Australia. In this policy, “Preparedism”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Gregory Hardiman trading as GrokoryAI, operating the Preparedism brand. For readers in the UK and European Economic Area, we are the “controller” of your personal information.
We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and, where they apply to you, other privacy laws such as the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Services:
- Your email address, and your first name if you choose to give it, when you sign up for a course or the newsletter.
- Sign-up details, such as which course you joined, the page you signed up on, the date, and the campaign tags in the link you arrived from (for example, which email or post sent you).
- Email activity, such as whether an email was delivered, opened or had a link clicked, and whether you unsubscribed.
- Anything you send us, such as replies to our emails.
- Purchase details when you buy a kit: your name, email address, the product and the amount paid. Your card and payment details go to our checkout provider, Gumroad, and never to us.
- Basic technical information needed to deliver and protect the Website, such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider processes when you load a page.
We do not ask for your home address, your location, details about your household, or any sensitive information. Please don’t send us sensitive information (for example, health details) in replies.
How we collect it
- From you, when you sign up, reply to an email or buy a kit.
- Automatically, when you open our emails or visit the Website (see “Analytics and cookies” below).
- From Gumroad, which shares your name, email address and purchase details with us when you buy a kit.
How we use it, and our legal bases
| What we do | Why | Legal basis (UK and EU readers) |
|---|---|---|
| Send the course and newsletter you signed up for | To give you what you asked for | Your consent |
| Tell you, occasionally, about new courses and kits | You agreed to this when you signed up | Your consent |
| Keep a record of when and where you signed up, handle unsubscribes and keep a record that you opted out | To respect your choices and meet email laws | Legal obligation and legitimate interests |
| Deliver a kit you bought and handle support or refunds | To fulfill your purchase | Performance of a contract |
| Stop sending you offers for a kit you already own | So you don’t get emails that no longer apply to you | Legitimate interests |
| Understand which emails and pages are useful, in aggregate | To improve the Services | Legitimate interests |
| Keep purchase and tax records | Because the law requires it | Legal obligation |
You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Your welcome email arrives as soon as you sign up, and we keep a record of when and on which page you did. If you didn’t sign up yourself, use the unsubscribe link in that first email and nothing more will arrive. What you’ll receive is set out at sign-up: the daily course emails, then one practical preparedness email every two weeks, plus occasional news about new courses and kits.
Our emails may record whether they were opened and which links were clicked. We use this to understand what is useful and to keep our sending healthy. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we don’t email you again by mistake.
Analytics and cookies
The Website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits and pages without using cookies and without tracking you across other websites. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not run advertising pixels on the Website.
If that changes, for example if we start measuring advertising, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before any optional cookies load.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers who help us run Preparedism, and only so they can do that job:
- Nitrosend, our email platform, which stores subscriber details and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the Website, protects it from abuse and provides the cookie-free analytics described above.
- Gumroad, which runs checkout for our kits. Gumroad acts as the merchant of record for those sales and handles your payment under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Our email inbox provider, which receives your replies.
- Kit, the email platform GrokoryAI uses for its own audience. Because our kits are sold through GrokoryAI’s Gumroad store, Gumroad may pass your purchase details to Kit. We do not use Kit to email Preparedism readers, and you will not receive GrokoryAI marketing unless you sign up for it separately.
We may also disclose personal information where the law requires or allows it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Preparedism, our readers or others.
International transfers
We are based in Australia, and our service providers may store or process information in other countries, including the United States. Wherever your information is processed, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected in line with this policy. Where UK or EU law requires a safeguard for an international transfer, we rely on the transfer safeguards our providers offer.
Storage, security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorized access or disclosure. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it:
- Subscribers: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details. After that we keep only your email address on our suppression list, so we can honor your choice.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting laws require (in Australia, generally five years).
- Replies and support messages: as long as needed to deal with them, then deleted.
Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can:
- unsubscribe from our emails at any time, using the link in every email;
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date; and
- ask us to delete it.
If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, you also have the right to restrict or object to how we use your information, to receive your information in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time (this doesn’t affect anything we did before you withdrew it).
If you live in a US state with a consumer privacy law (such as California), you have the right to know what we collect, to ask us to delete or correct it, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define it.
To make a request, email us at support@preparedism.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will respond within the time the law allows (within one month for UK and EU requests). If the law lets us decline a request, we will tell you why.
Children
The Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.
Third-party links
Our emails and the Website may link to other websites, such as official emergency information services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content, so please read their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will let subscribers know by email before it takes effect.
Contact and complaints
For any question, request or complaint about your personal information, email support@preparedism.com. We take complaints seriously and will work with you to resolve them.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact your local privacy regulator:
- Australia: Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au)
- United Kingdom: Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk)
- European Economic Area: the data protection authority in your country
- Canada: Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca)
